An uncontrolled study of 23 children with autism examined changes in clinical scores and brain electrophysiology after transcranial PBM.

What to keep in mind

This is an open-label, one-arm study, not a randomized trial. Without a concurrent control group, changes cannot confidently be attributed to PBM rather than expectations, development or other care. Reported short-term tolerability does not establish long-term safety. Read the funding and conflict-of-interest disclosures alongside the results.

Research information is not a prescription. Long-term pediatric transcranial PBM safety is not established by these studies; adult evidence is not a substitute for pediatric evidence. Use only under qualified clinical guidance, with device-specific safety review.
